In the lap of Himalayas is situated Nainital, a hill station of heart stopping natural beauty in the newly formed state of Uttarakhand.
Nature has lavishly bestowed her bounty on this little gem of a place. The climate here is crisp and deliciously cool all the year round. Mother nature is at her best here. It is in these surroundings, overlooking Naina (Cheena) Peak (itself overlooking the snow-capped Himalayan Peaks) and between the flanks of Ayarpata and Upper Danda, near the Uttarakhand High Court, Uttarakhand Academy of Administration.
Uttarakhand Academy of Administration, Nainital is the 'Apex' Training Institute in the state of Uttarakhand. The institute was established as Officers Training School (O.T.S.) at Allahabad in 1951 to impart professional training to the I.A.S. officers allotted to U.P. cadre, Provincial Civil Service (Executive) officers and Provincial Judicial Service officers. The Officer Training School was shifted to Nainital, in 1971, to its present campus, which is popularly known as Ardwell Camp.
The Government of Uttarakhand renamed it as Dr. Raghunandan Singh Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration (DRSTUAoA), Nainital. The Academy is a composite institute and the institutions of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Revenue Police, Land Record and Survey training are under its technical control.
The Academy is also the Nodal Institute for the operation of National Training Policy and State Training Policy in the state. The Academy has actively contributed as a premier institute at the national and inter-state levels in mainstreaming latest developments in the field if training.
DRSTUAoA has two main functional Bodies under it :
- Disaster Management Cell
- Centre For Good Governance
