The Academy's Rurdrapur Branch known as 'Uttarakhand Institute of Rural Development' organizes number of In-service and Foundation/Induction Training Programmes for State level Civil Service Officers of various departments like Rural Development, Agriculture, etc through out the year. These includes In-Service training programmes for senior, middle and lower level officers of Rural Development Department.
"The Uttarakhand Institute of Rural Development (UIRD) is a capacity building Training, Education, Extension, Research and Consultancy Organisation devoted to the study of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj "
The Institute has been designated as a nodal agency for carrying out evaluation studies under various watershed as a nodal Institute for the documentation of CDOs meetings and workshops in the Rural Development Department. UIRD also organizes Programmes, Workshops & Seminars for Trainers, Elected Representatives, Farmers etc. The main Campus of the Institute is under Development in 45 acres of land with the support and funding from Ministry of Rural Development,Government of India and State Government Uttarakhand.
Objectives :
- To Develop Managerial skills, organizational capability, leadership and decision making ability for development planning and efficiency in implementation of policies , program and projects.
- To create and provide opportunities to develop and upgrade knowledge/skills/attitude and experience on a demand driven basis for promoting the study of Rural development and Panchayatiraj in particular & development administration in general.
- To study and document indigenous rural technologies, facilitate in the amalgamation of the modern technology with indigenous technology in various development sectors like water and sanitation, water recharging, energy conservation and use, diversified agriculture, irrigation, rural housing, disaster mitigation, rural tourism, health system and health care, rural roads, transport, marketing etc. and facilitate their transfer from lab to the land.
- To function as the nodal and apex state level training institute in the field of rural development.
- To help in the growth of professionalism in the area of rural development administration and effective management of rural development programs.
- To promote HRD & management practices as a major instrument for the development of rural areas.
- To carry on organizational and policy oriented research work.
- To develop infrastructure for effective capacity building, training, education, extension, research, consultancy and allied activities.
- To collaborate with the other regional/district level institutions having similar objectives for the achievement of the objectives of the society.
- To function as a nodal and apex state level training institute in the field of rural development.
