“Community Participation in Solid Waste Management”

 The State Institute of Urban Development (SIUD), Dr. Raghunandan Singh Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration, conducted a three-day training program on “Community Participation in Solid Waste Management” from 13th to 15th November, 2025 at the Dr. R S. Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration, Nainital. A total of 24 participants from various Urban Local Bodies organisations participated in the program.  

Programme Objective:

  • To develop understanding of community participation concepts and strategies in SWM.
  • To build capacity in designing IEC/BCC and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • To share good practices and case studies of community-led SWM models from Uttarakhand.
  • To prepare participants to design localized, participatory action plans for their respective ULBs.

About

Dr. Raghunandan Singh Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration UAoA (Uttarakhand Academy of Administration) originally established as Officers' Training School (O.T.S.) at Allahabad in 1951, was shifted to Nainital in 1971. In 1974 the institution was renamed as Administrative Training Institute (A.T.I.) and in 1988 it was raised to the status of Uttar Pradesh Academy of Administration (UPAA). In the year 2000, after creation of Uttaranchal as a separate state, the academy was named as Uttaranchal Academy of Administration (UAoA). Now Academy is known as Dr. Raghunandan Singh Tolia Uttarakhand Academy of Administration (DRTSUAoA).
